We Worship A Victorious Savior Who Will One Day Rule

    2 Corinthians 2:12-17 #6 in series
''Who although,'' Philippians 2, ''He existed in the form of God did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bondservant. And being made in the likeness of men, and being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore, also God highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should be, those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth. And that every tongue should
confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.''

This is the very thing I wrote you, so that when I came, I would have not sorrow from those who ought to make me rejoice; having confidence in you all that my joy would be the joy of you all. For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote to you, with many tears; not so that you would be made sorrowful, but that you might know the love which I have especially for you. But if any has caused sorrow, he has caused sorrow not to me, but in some degree - in order not to say too much - to all of you.''

''Sufficient for such a one is this punishment which was inflicted by the majority, so that on the contrary you should rather forgive and comfort him, otherwise such a one might be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. Wherefore I urge you to reaffirm your love for him. For to this end also I wrote, so that I might put you to the test, whether you are obedient in all things.''

Now He who established us with you in Christ and anointed us is God, who also sealed us and gave us the Spirit in our hearts as a pledge. How Are You Doing With God’s Command To Forgive Others?
Colossians 3:12-13 “Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgives you.” Isaiah 55:7 “Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts, let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God , for he will freely pardon.” Psalm 130 “But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence serve you.” Matthew 6:12, 15 “Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.” Luke 6:37 “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.” I. Forgiveness Is A Choice William Willimon - “The human animal is not supposed to be good at forgiveness. Forgiveness is not some innate, natural human emotion. Vengeance, retribution, violence, these are natural human qualities. It is natural for the human animal to snarl and crouch into a defensive position when attacked, to howl when wronged, to bite back when bitten. Forgiveness is not natural.” “And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day Jesus Christ returns.” ~ Philippians 1:6 “Isaiah 43:25 “I am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sin no more.” II. III. Forgiveness Is Not The Same As Reconciliation “If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath.” ~ Romans 12:18-19
