The Ministry of Angels
Series: Angels
Psalm 34:7, Psalm 91:3-13

“The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.” ~ Psalm 34:7 (NASV)

“Fear nothing – not wild wolves in the night, not flying arrows in the day, not disease that prowls through the darkness, not disaster that erupts at high noon. Even though others succumb all around, drop like flies right and left, no harm will even graze you. You will stand untouched, watch it all from a distance, with the wicked turn into corpses. Yes, because God’s your refuge, the High God your very own home, Evil can’t get close to you, harm can’t get through the door. He ordered his angels to guard you wherever you go. If you stumble, they’ll catch you; their job is to keep you from falling. You’ll walk unharmed among lions and snakes, and kick young lions and serpents from the path.” ~ Psalm 91: 3-13

I. Angels Are God’s Messengers

Angel – the very word means messenger.

ACTS 8:26 God sent an angel to deliver a message to Philip. “Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip ‘Go south to the road-the desert road-that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.”

II. God Uses Angels As Our Providers

1 Kings 19:5 “He lay down under the tree and fell asleep. All at once an angel touched him and said, Get up and eat!”

“See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared.”
~ Exodus 23:20

III.  Angels Are With Believers At Death

“The time came when the Lazarus died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side.” ~Luke 16:22 (NASV)

IV. Angels Join With Us In Praising God

“Praise him, all his angels, praise him all His heavenly hosts.” ~ Psalm 148:2

Do You Want A Life of Good Health?
    John 5: 1-16

“After this, a Jewish festival took place, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. By the Sheep Gate in Jerusalem there is a pool, called Bethesda in Aramaic, which has five colonnades. Within these lay a large number of the disabled – blind, lame and paralyzed. One man was there who had been disabled for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there and realized he had already been there a long time, he said to him, Do you want to get well? Sir, the disabled man answered, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, but while I’m coming, someone goes down ahead of me. Get up, Jesus told him, pick up your man and walk. Instantly the man got well, picked up his mat and started to walk. Now that day was the Sabbath, and so the Jews said to the man who had been healed, This is the Sabbath. The law prohibits you from picking up your mat. He replied, the man who made me well told me, pick up your mat and walk. Who is this man who told you, pick up your mat and walk? They asked. But the man who was healed did not know who he was, because Jesus had slipped away into the crowd that was there. After this, Jesus found him in the temple and said to him, See you are well. Do not sin anymore, so that something worse doesn’t happen to you. The man went and reported to the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well. Therefore, the Jews began persecuting Jesus because he was doing these things on the Sabbath.” ~ John 5: 1-16 (NASV)

    I. Admit You Have A Problem

“So Jesus said, Because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I am going to vomit you out of my mouth. For you say, I’m rich; I have become wealthy and need nothing, and you don’t realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked.” ~ Revelation 3:16-17 (CSB)

Romans 7:18 “I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.”

II. Determine You Will Be Obedient
“Now without faith it is impossible to please God, since the one who draws near to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek Him.” ~ Hebrews 11:6 (CSB)

III. Determine You Will Trust God

The writer of Proverbs wisely said, “Trust in the Lord with your whole heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; in all your ways know him, and he will make your paths straight.” ~ Proverbs 3:5-6 (CSB)

    The Massive Cost of Christmas
    Matthew 2: 1-12

“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich.” ~ 2 Corinthians 8:9 NASV

“You are familiar with the generosity of our Master, Jesus Christ. Rich as he was, he gave it all away for us – in one stroke he became poor, And we became rich.” ~ 2 Corinthians 8:9 Message

“you know the grace that has come to us through our Lord Jesus, the anointed. He set aside his infinite riches and was born into the lowest of circumstances. So that you may gain great riches through his humble poverty.” ~ 2 Corinthians 8: 9 New English Version

    I. The Cost of Christmas

“though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor.”

    Colossians 1
“We look at Jesus, the Son of God and see God’s original purpose in everything created. For everything, absolutely everything, above and below, visible and invisible, rank after rank of angels – everything got started in him and finds
purpose in him. He was there before any of it came into existence and holds it all together right up to this moment.” (NASV)

“Think of yourselves the way Christ Jesus thought of himself. He had equal status with God but didn’t think so much of himself that he had to cling to that status no matter what. Not at all. When the time came, he set aside the privileges of deity and took on the status of a slave, became human. Having become human, he stayed human. It was an incredibly humbling process. He did not claim special privileges. Instead he live a selfless, obedient life and then died a selfless, obedient death, and the worst kind of death at that – a crucifixion. ~ Philippians 2: 5-8 (Message)

Cling – literally means to grasp with all your strength

IF OUR GREATEST NEED HAD BEEN MONEY GOD WOULD HAVE SENT US AN ECONOMIST. IF OUR GREATEST NEED HAD BEEN PLEASURE GOD WOULD HAVE SENT US AN ENTERTAINER BUT OUR GREATEST NEED WAS FOR REPENTANCE SO GOD SENT US A SAVIOR” A. W. Tozer

How To Have Joy During This 2020 Christmas Season
    Mark 2:1-12

“After a few days, Jesus returned to Capernaum, and word got around that he was back home. A crowd gathered, jamming the entrance so no one could get in or out. He was teaching the Word. They brought a paraplegic to him, carried by four men. When they weren’t able to get in because of the crowd, they removed part of the roof and lowered the paraplegic on the cot. Impressed by their bold belief, Jesus said, to the paraplegic, Son, I forgive your sins. Some religion scholars sitting there started whispering among themselves, He cannot talk that way! That’s blasphemy! God and only God can forgive sins. Jesus knew right away what they were thinking, and said, Why are you so skeptical? Which is simpler: to say to the paraplegic, I forgive your sins or say, Get up, take your stretcher, and start walking? Well, just so it’s clear that I am the Son of Man and authorized to do either or both….he looked at the paraplegic and said, Get up! Pick up your stretcher and go home. And the man did it, got up, grabbed his stretcher, and walked out, with everyone there watching him. They rubbed their eyes, incredulous and then praised God, saying, We have never seen anything like this! ~ Mark 2:1-12 (The Message)

Have You Met The God Who Loves You?
    Mark 7:24-30

“Jesus left that place and went to the vicinity of Tyre. He entered a house and did not want anyone to know it; yet he could not keep his presence secret. In fact, as soon as she heard about him, a woman whose little daughter was possessed by an evil spirit came and fell as his feet. The woman was a Greek, born in Syrian Phoenicia. She begged Jesus to drive the demon out of her daughter. First let the children eat all they want, he told her, for it is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to their dogs. Yes, Lord, she replied, but even the dogs under the table eat the children’s crumbs. Then he told her, for such a reply, you may go; the demon has left Your daughter. She went home and found her child lying On the bed, and the demon was gone.” ~ Mark 7:24-30 (NASV)

WHEN IT COMES TO GOD ARE YOU HUMBLE ENOUGH TO BE WILLING TO TAKE THE CRUMBS? HOW MUCH HUMILITY DO YOU HAVE?

THE SECRET TO THIS WOMAN’S FAITH WAS THAT SHE WAS NOT ASHAMED TO BEG GOD FOR MERCY SHE DID NOT MIND BEING CALLED A PUPPY HUMILITY IS VAULUABLE BECAUSE IT IS

“THESE TRIALS WILL SHOW THAT YOUR FAITH IS GENUINE. IT IS BEING TESTED AS FIRE TESTS AND PURIFIES GOLD – THOUGH YOUR FAITH IS FAR MORE PRECIOUS THAN MERE GOLD.” ~ 1 PETER 1: 7 (NLT)
