    “Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to test you, as though some strange thing happened to you.” ~ 1 Peter 4:12
     
    Various trials - means outward trails & inward temptation
     
    Acts 27:41 “they had taken up the anchors, they committed themselves unto the sea, and loosed the rudder bands, and hoisted up the mainsail to the wind, and made toward shore. And falling into a place where two seas met, they ran the ship aground.”
     
    I. Rejoice in the Trial
     
    II. Don’t Give Up
     
    III. Pray More As You Walk Through The Struggle
     
    Vs 5 “If any of you lack wisdom ask God”
     
    Ask - means to beg
     
    “The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of trials.” ~ 2 Peter 2:9
     
    Vs 2 consider - Greek word comes from a root term
     
    Means to lead or to guide
     
    Vs 3 knowing - God can provide you with the strength with the resources
     
    “I CAN DO EVERYTHING THROUGH HIM WHO GIVES ME THE STRENGTH” ~ Phil. 4: 13
     
    “An anxious heart weighs one down, but a kind word cheers him up.” ` Proverbs 12:25

    “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take you stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” ~ Ephesians 6:10 – 17
     
    I. Belt of Truth

    II. Breastplate of Righteousness
     
    Covers the chest & protects vital organs of the body Leather vest with overlapping plates of thin metal sewn on top.
     
    “It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God-that is our righteousness, holiness and redemption.” ~ 1 Corinthians 1:30
     
    “not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ – the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith.” ~ Philippians 3:9
     
    III. Boots of Peace
     
    IV. Helmet of Salvation
     
    Rough layers of leather with hammered metal wrapped around it to fit tightly on the soldiers head Leather wrapped not only head but neck down to chest
     
    “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given by which we must be saved” ~ Acts 4:12
     
    Helmet of salvation protects us from doubting our Salvation.
     
    “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know you have eternal life” ~ 1 John 5:17

    Psalm 34:7; 91:11
     
    Psalm 34:7 “God’s angel sets up a circle of protection around us while we pray.”
     
    Psalm 91:9-12 “yes, because God is your refuge, the Most High God your very own home. Evil cannot get close to you, harm cannot get through the door.
     
    He ordered his angels to guard you wherever you go. If you stumble they will catch you from falling. You will walk unharmed among lions and snakes, and kick young lions and serpents from the path.”
     
    I. God Uses Angels To Care For Us
     
    Angel – means messenger.
     
    1 Kings 19:5 “He lay down under the tree and fell asleep. All at once an angel touched him and said, Get up and eat!”
     
    Exodus 23:20 , “See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way & to bring you to the place I have prepared.”
    “The time came when the beggar (Lazarus) died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side.”
     
    II. God Uses Angels To Teach Us How To Praise
     
    Psalm 148:2 “Praise him, all his angels, praise him all his heavenly hosts.”
     
    Heavenly hosts- means angelic armies
     
    Hebrews 12:1 “Wherefore seeing we are also surrounded with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.”

    Jesus answered ''You are of your father, the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.''
     
    I. Who Is The Devil?
     
    The serpent, another name for the devil, ''...he's more crafty than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made.''
     
    ''Again, the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 'Son of man, take up a lamentation over the king of Tyre and say to him, 'Thus says the LORD GOD, you had the seal of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. You were in Eden, the garden of God; every precious stone was your covering. The ruby, the topaz, and the diamond; the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper. The sapphire, the turquoise, and the emerald. And the gold, the workmanship of your settings and sockets was in you on the day that you were created. They were prepared. You were the anointed cherub who covers...''
     
    Lucifer, means ''light-bearer,''
     
    vs 12 ''You had the seal of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.''
     
    Vs 14 ''You were the anointed cherub who covers...''
     
    ''You were the anointed cherub who covers, who, literally, guards.''
     
    vs 13, '' ..and the gold, the workmanship of your settings and sockets...'' Settings mean tambourines. sockets mean pipes.
     
    II. What Happened To The Beautiful Angel That Caused Him To Become Satan
     
    vs 15, ''You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created until unrighteousness was found in you. By the abundance of your trade you were internally filled with violence, and you sinned. Therefore, I have cast you as profane from the mountain of God, and I have destroyed you, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.''
     
    (1) The sin of pride
    Isaiah 14, ''How you have fallen from heaven, O star of the morning...''
     
    'I will ascend to heaven. I will raise my throne above the stars of God, and I will sit on the mount of assembly in the recesses of the north. I will ascend above the heights of the clouds. I will make myself like the Most High God!'''
     
    ''I'm too beautiful. I'm too glorious.
     
    (2) the Sin of ingratitude.
     
    (3) The Sin of Rebellion

    vs 17….. I put you before kings, that they may see you.''

    “Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every authority instituted among men: whether to the king, as the supreme authority, or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right. For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men. Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God. Show proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honor the king.”
     
    I. We Are To Have Proper Respect of Others
     
    Proper respect- means to assign value
     
    (a) We are to love believers
    Love- unselfish love – Agape – God love
     
    (b) We are to show loving fear to God
    Show reverence Show respect Be in awe
     
    “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” ~Proverbs 1:7
     
    (c) We are to submit to the Government
    VS 13 Submit yourself to every authority instituted among men
     
    Submit - military word literally meaning to line up under the authority
     
    II. Believers Are To Understand The Purpose Of God in Government
     
    Vs 14 government officials “are sent by God to punish those who do wrong and to commend those Who do right”
     
    III. Believers As American Citizens Can Make A Positive Difference
    (1) Study the issues and vote
    (2) Pray for our elected leaders
    (3) Communicate Your Convictions

    Romans 12:1 “I urge you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”
     
    I. Because God Is God of The Universe
     
    Romans 11:33 "Oh, the depth of the riches, both of the wisdom and knowledge of God; how unfathomable, unsearchable, are His judgments and unfathomable His ways. For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has become His counselor, or who has first given to Him that it might be paid back to Him again? For from Him, and through Him, and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever, amen."
     
    Hebrews 4 "We don't have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. Therefore, let us come before Him with boldness, with confidence. Come before the throne of grace to receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. He's the God of mercies."
     
    II. Pride Makes Surrendering To Our Lord challenging
     
    III. Fear Makes It Difficult To Surrender All To Our Lord
     
    1 Peter 5:6 "Humble yourself therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time."
     
    Proverbs 3:5 "Trust in the Lord and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path."

    Ephesians 6:1-4 - “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land. Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.”
     
    I. God Speaks To Children First
     
    ''Honor your father and mother''
     
    Children, obey your parents
     
    Children- word for offspring,
     
    Obey- idea of acknowledge authority.
     
    Your parents- children are to obey their parents.
     
    The chief authority in a child's life under God is the parent
     
    In the Lord- Obedience is not unto sin.
     
    For this is right - It is the right thing to do!
     
    Why because God's Word says so.
     
    Children obey in the Lord... parents bring them up in the instruction of the Lord.
     
    God is the SUPREME AUTHORITY
     
    II. Children Honor Your Parents
     
    III. God Promises Children Who Honor Parents Will Be Blessed
     
    IV. God Speaks To Fathers (Parents)
     
    Do not provoke to anger-provoke means to stir up
     
    Prov. 22:24-25- “Make no friendship with someone given to anger, nor go with a wrathful man, lest you learn his ways and entangle yourself in a snare.”
