How To Be Positive When We Do Not Understand What God Is Allowing To Happen In Our Lives
Genesis 3:17 I. We Will Be Disappointed Sometimes By Other People
II. We Will Have Contention With God
Hosea 12:3 “As a man Jacob tried to get the best of God, but God did not lose”
Name Jacob means deceiver, manipulator New name Israel means Prince with God
    1 Peter 5:7
“Cast all your cares on him for he cares for you”
    1. Be honest with God
Job 13:14-25 “I have lost all hope, so what if God kills me? I’m going to state my case to him…..listen to my words, God of explanation, I’m ready to state my case, because I know I am right. Are you coming to accuse me, God? Speak first, o God, and I’ll answer. Or let me speak, and you answer me. What are my sins? What wrongs have I done? What crimes am I charged with? Why do you avoid me? Why do you treat me like an enemy? Are you trying to frighten me? I’m nothing but a leaf: you’re attacking me like a piece of dry straw.”
Have you ever be that honest with God? Psalm 13: 1-5 “How long, Lord, will you forget me? Forever? How long will you look the other way? How long must I struggle with anguish in my soul, with the sorrow in my heart every day? How long will my enemy have the upper hand? Turn and answer me, my God!...I trust in your unfailing love.” 2. Trust him as you verbalize your stress, discouragement, puzzlement 3. Remind God of his promises “ The Jacob prayed, O Lord of my grandfather Abraham and my father Isaac, you helped these people in the past. Surely you will help me. God of my grandfather Abraham and the God of my father Isaac you told me to return to my land and to my relatives, and you promised to treat me kindly. I am not worthy of your faithfulness and unfailing love that you give me….But o Lord, please rescue me from my brother, Esau. I’m afraid that he is coming to kill me…but you promised to treat me kindly and to multiply my descendants.” 4. Verbalize Your Complete Trust in God Job 13:15 “Even though God slays me, yet I will trust in him”

How To Be Positive When You Are In Pain
    Galatians 3:4
    I.   God May Use Pain To Teach Us More About  Him
1 Corinthians 1, “We are crushed and overwhelmed…and saw how powerless we were to help ourselves; but that was good, for then we put everything into the hands of God, who alone could save us…..and he did help us!”
11 Corinthians 7:9 “I am glad  not Because it hurt you but because the pain turned you to God.”
II. God May Use Pain To Help Us Let Down Our Walls With People
Galatians 6:2 “By helping each other with your troubles, you truly obey the law of Christ.”
III. God May Use Pain To Help Us Become More Like Jesus
Hebrews 5:8 “Even though Jesus was God’s Son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered.”
2 Corinthians 1: 4-6 “God comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When others are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.  You can be sure that the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ. So when we are weighed down with troubles, it is for your benefit and salvation! For when God comforts us, it is so that we, in turn, can be an encouragement to you.  Then you can patiently endure the same things we suffer.”

Psalm 85:1-6 “God, you smiled on your good earth! You brought good times back to Jacob! You lifted the cloud of guilt from your people, you put their sins far out of sight. You took back you sin-provoked threats, you cooled your hot, righteous anger. Help us again, God of our help; don’t hold a grudge against us forever. You aren’t going to keep this up, are you? Scowling and angry, year after year? Why not help us make a fresh start- a resurrection life?" Here are three similarities: I. God Has Blessed America Psalm 85:1 “You showed your favor to your land, O Lord” A. God Has Blessed Us With Natural Resources B. God Has Blessed Us Politically C. God Has Poured Out His Spiritual Blessings on America II. Americans Have Forgotten God’s Blessings A. We Are Taking Conversation About God Out Of Public Talk B. We Have Changed Our Moral Values III. America Must Have A Spiritual Revival “Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you” - Psalm 85:6 A. We Must Humble Ourselves First and Then Pray Former President Ronald Reagan “If we ever forget that we are one nation under God, we will be a nation gone under”

How To Be Positive When Your Life Is Full of Difficulties
    Philippians 1:1-11
I.When Life Becomes Difficult Remember The Positive
Vs 3 “Every time you cross my mind, I break out in exclamations of thanks to God. Each exclamation is a trigger to prayer. I find myself praying for you with a glad heart. I am so please that you have continued on in this with us, believing and proclaiming God’s Message, from the day you heard it right up to the present.”
    A. Don’t dwell on your failures “everytime you cross my mind, I break out in exclamations of thanks to God” “Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life…….do your best to mediate on things that are true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious – the best and not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse.” 4: 6-8
    B. Focus on positive people, positive circumstances God has placed in your life
vs 5 “I am so pleased you have continued on in this with us…..”
    II. Rejoice In Prayer
Vs 4 “I find myself always praying for you with great joy”
“Rejoice in the Lord always, I will say it again, rejoice!” ~ Philippians 4:4
III. When The Storm Comes Look Around For God
Vs 6 “the God who started this great work in you would keep at it and bring it to a flourishing finish on the very day Christ Jesus appears”

    The Power Of Positive Encouragment
Romans 16:1-20 “But the Lord said to Samuel, Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” ~ 1 Samuel 16:7 The Perfect Church I think that I shall never see A church that’s all it ought to be: A church whose members never stray Beyond the Strait and Narrow way: A Church that has no empty pews, Whose Pastor never has the blues, A Church whose Deacons always deak, And none is proud, and all are meek: Where gossips never peddle lies, Or make complaints or criticize; Where all are always sweet and kind, And all to other’s faults are blind. Such perfect Churches there may be, But none of them are known to me. But still, we’ll work, and pray and plan, To make our own the best we can. I. We Must Affirm Our Spiritual Family Paul shares the names of 27 friends with 21 positive descriptions “I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase.” “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” ~ Ephesians 4:29 “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have the opportunity, lets us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” ~ Galatians 6:9-10 16:16 Holy embraces all around! Give each other a holy kiss. 5 times in the epistles we are told to greet one another with a holy Kiss We changed that to a holy handshake II. Be Alert And Watchful For Those In Church Who Cause Trouble III. How To Deal With People Who Are Disruptive ‘GIVE THESE PEOPLE A WIDE BERTH. THEY HAVE NO INTENTION OF LIVING FOR OUR MASTER CHRIST. THEY ARE ONLY IN THIS FOR WHAT THEY CAN GET OUT OF IT, AND AREN’T ABOVE USING PIOUS SWEET TALK TO DUPE UNSUSPECTING INNOCENTS…………STAY ALERT Titus 3:9 “Stay away from mindless, pointless quarreling over genealogies and fine print in the law code. That gets you nowhere. Warn a quarrelsome person once or twice, but then be done with them. It is obvious that such a person is out of line, rebellious against God. By persisting in divisiveness he cuts himself off.” Proverbs 16:20 “Without wood a fire goes out; without gossip a quarrel dies down”

It never changes – it never Tires-it endures through all; in good repute, in bad repute, in the face Of the world’s condemnation, a mother’s love lives on.” III. A Positive Attitude Begins With Giving Praise To God
1 Peter 2: 9-10 “You are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God’s instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day-difference he made for you-from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted. Friends, this world is not your home, so don’t make yourselves cozy in it. Don’t indulge your ego at the expense of your soul. Live an exemplary life among the natives so that your actions will refute their prejudices.” 1. Before You Can Have A Positive Attitude You Must Know Who You Are Ephesians 2:8-9 “All we do is trust him enough to let him do it. It is God’s gift from start to finish! We don’t play the major role. If we did, we would probably go around bragging that we had done the whole thing! No, we neither make nor save ourselves. God does both the making and saving. He creates each of us by Christ Jesus to join him in the work he does, the good work he has gotten ready for us to do, work we had better be doing.” GOD IS TEACHING US WE ARE PRIESTS WHAT DO PRIESTS DO? They build bridges – Latin word of priest is pontifex – comes from 2 Latin words meaning bridge to make 11. Before You Can Have A Positive Attitude You Must Know Your Purpose In Life Vs 9 “you are God’s instruments to do his work, and speak out for him, to tell others of the night and day difference he made for you, From nothing into something, From rejected to accepted.” God’s purpose for your life and my life is to shout his praises! (1) Give praise in all circumstances (2) Positive Praise Must Be Expressed Hebrews 13:15 “Praise must be the fruit of our lips” (3) Positive Praise Liberates Us Jesus said, “You shall know the truth and the truth will set you free.” ~ John 8:32 (4) Positive Praise Can Heal Your Pain “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised.” ~ Job 1:20-21

    Our Members Are Our Ministers
    Series: (All)
    Ephesians 4:12-16
    1.   The Church Is To Be A Place of Unity and Training
Train – means to equip, to be made complete
“Finally, brethren, rejoice, be made complete.” (2 Corinthians 13:11)
“Now I exhort you brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you will all agree, and there be no divisions among you, but be made complete….the equipping of each believer results in the unity of all.” (1 Corinthians 1:10)
God reveals four basic tools for the spiritual equipping of the saints.
    1.   The Word of God
“Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another – showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God’s way. Through the Word we are put together and shaped up for the tasks God has for us.” (2 Timothy 3:16)
    2.   Prayer
This is the second tool of equipping and the pastor/teacher is responsible to prepare himself and to lead his people to prepare themselves in prayer.
    3.   Testing
    4.   Suffering
These usually go together and God uses these methods to refine believers to greater holiness.
James goes so far as to say,
“Consider it all joy…when we encounter various trials knowing that the testing of faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” (James 1:2-4)
“Walk in a manner worth of the calling with which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love, being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”
God never designed the church for his people
to wait Around for a pastor to do the work for them
A healthy church – many people have keys to the building
Meetings take place and the pastor does not have to show up for all meetings
People assume responsibility for unlocking doors turning on lights, etc
Where people are on a waiting list to teach Bible
Study classes and work with youth
Ephesians 4 the responsibility of the teacher/pastors
Programs, ministry, 21st century methods are important
    11. How Do We Train Leaders For Ministry?
Pastors/teachers create an atmosphere where that comes naturally
Hebrews 10:24 describes the church as a place
“Where we encourage one another on toward love and good service

One Thousand Years of Heaven On Earth
    Series: ISIS
    Revelation 20: 1-15
Basically three views held by believers
    1. Amillennial
Those who hold this view do not believe what I am preaching this morning from the Word of God will happen.
     2. Postmillennial
Those who hold this view believe that God working with humanity will establish a Golden Age on earth. Humanity will have finally attained our potential
    3. Premillennial
This is the view I hold – Jesus is going to come as prophesied in Chp 19. At the battle of Armageddon which is the last war of Tribulation Period.
    Revelation 20:1-3
“I saw an Angel descending out of heaven. He carried the key to the Abyss and a chain – a huge chain. He grabbed the Dragon, that old Snake- the very Devil, Satan himself! – chained him up for a thousand years, dumped him into the Abyss, slammed it shut and sealed it tight. No more trouble out of him, deceiving the nations – until the thousand years are up. After that he has to be let loose briefly.”
Vs 10 “The Devil, who deceived them will be hurled into Lake Fire and Brimstone, joining the Beast and the False Prophet, the three in torment around the clock for ages without end.”
    1. The Reality Of Millennial Kingdom On Earth
Matthew 24:3 “What will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the world?”
Matthew 24: 4-5 Jesus said, “Watch out for doomsday deceivers. Many leaders are going to show up with forged identities, claiming, I am the Christ, the Messiah. They will deceive a lot of people. When reports come in of wars and rumored wars, keep your head and don’t panic. This is routine history; this is no sign of the end. Nation will fight nation and ruler fight ruler, over and over. Famines and earthquakes will occur in various places. This is nothing compared to what is coming.”
2 Timothy 3: 13 “Unscrupulous con men will continue to exploit the faith. They’re as deceived as the people they lead astray. As long as they are out there, things can only get worse.”
    Dragon- means fierceness.
Snake- sneaky, slimy, tries to hid actions
Devil – means slanderer or one who speaks against others
Satan – means the evil one
Philippians 2:6-7 “Jesus being in the form of God, didn’t think it robbery to be equal with God, but made himself of no reputation and humbled himself and became as a servant”
Jesus said, “I give you authority over all the power of the devil of the wicked one”
That is not for future events
            That is now – TODAY
                    11. The Reign of Christ During The One Thousand Years
“When the thousand years are up, Satan will be let loose from his cell, and will launch again his old work of deceiving the nations, searching out victims in every nook and cranny of the earth, even Gog and Magog! He will talk them into going to war and will gather a huge army, millions strong. They will stream across the earth, surround and lay siege to the camp of God’s holy people, the Beloved City. They will no sooner get there than fire will pour out of heaven and burn them up. The Devil who deceived them will be hurled into Lake of Fire and Brimstone, joining the Beast and the False Prophet, the three in torment around the clock for the ages without end.”
God will permit this brief revolution at the end of the thousand years to show only God can change the human heart.
1,000 years of perfect society – perfect provision
            Perfect prosperity
There will be those who still choose to follow Satan.
