2 Timothy 2:19-22

“God knows who belongs to him. Spurn evil, all you who name God as God.  In a well-furnished kitchen there are not only crystal goblets and silver platters, but waste cans and compost buckets – some containers used to serve fine meals, others to take out the garbage.  Become the kind of container God can use to present any and every kind of gift to his guests for their blessing.  Run away from infantile indulgence. Run after mature righteousness – faith – love – peace – joining those who are honest and serious prayer before God. Refuse to get involved in inane discussions; they always end up in fights. God’s servant must not be argumentative, but a gentle listener and a teacher who keeps cool, working firmly but patiently with those who refuse to obey.  You never know how or when God might sober them up with a change of heart and a turning to the truth, enabling them to escape the devil’s trap, where they are caught and held captive, forced to run his errands.” 2 Timothy 2: 19-22 (The Message)

vs 21 “Become the kind of container God can use to present any and every kind of gift to his guests for their blessing.”

I. Determine To Be A Vessel of Honors

vs 20 “In a well-furnished kitchen there are not only crystal goblets and silver platters, but waste cans and compost buckets – some containers used to serve fine meals, others to take out the garbage.”

How do I choose to be a vessel of honor?

First of all, you have to run away from dishonorable activities.

Verse 19 “Spurn evil, all you who name God as God.”

Spurn – means to abstain – depart – desist

Evil – means moral wrongfulness

Secondly, to distance  yourself from dishonorable people

Third: Be diligent to study scripture.

vs 15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, handling accurately the word of truth.

II. When You Do Sin Confess To God Immediately

1 John 1: 8-10 “If we claim that we are free of sin, we are only fooling ourselves. A claim like that is errant nonsense. On the other hand, if we admit our sins – make a clean breast of them – he won’t let us down; he will be true to himself. He’ll forgive our sins and purge us of all wrong doing. If we claim that we have never sinned, we out-and-out contradict God – make a liar out of him. A claim like that only shows off our ignorance of God.”
