Top 10 Bad Habits of Americans
(1) Snacking non-stop, even when you are not hungry
(2) Spending too much time watching television
(3) Overspending to purchase wants
(4) Eating too much fast food
(5) Getting sunburned a few times every year
(6) Biting your nails
(7) Skipping breakfast
(8) Binge drinking alcohol
(9) Smoking cigarettes
(10) Overusing pain killers and sedatives
 
“Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day. They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” ~ Acts 2: 42-47
 
I. As A Believer I Regularly Participate In Celebrative Worship
Vs 42 continually - means committed
 
“if you abide in my word, then you are truly disciples of mine.” ~ John 8:31
 
“My soul shall boast in the Lord; let the afflicted hear and rejoice. Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together.” ~ Psalm 34:2-3
 
III. My Membership Will Be In A Church That Will Reach Out and Welcome In
 
“Whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me.” ~ Matthew 18:5
 
Little child – applies to people of all ages

    I. Leaders Must Be People of Prayer
     
    “Be anxious for nothing, but by prayer make your needs known to God who hears and answers prayer.” ~ Philippians 4:6
     
    II. Leaders Prepare Themselves To Lead

    An inner drive
    A longing to help with needs of the body
     
    Gift of Helping- This is a gift to enable someone to assist & support other believers in practical ways
     
    Diakonos – Greek word translated deacon means to care for or to wait upon
     
    Gift of Showing Mercy - means compassion.
    The ability to empathize with the needs, pains, heartaches, disappointments or sorrows of others & become an agent of healing

    GOD ORCHESTRATED HIS CHURCH TO BE A SYMPHONY NOT A ONE PERSON BAND
     
    Several gifts are under the umbrella of serving gifts
     
    Gift of Administration – not secretarial but CEO
    One who is visionary – sets goals
     
    Gift of Orchestration – responsible for a group
    All on same page - rehearsed – ready
     
    Gift of Exhortation – come along beside to help
    Will take scripture & place it in relevant understanding
     
    Gift of Faith – unique ability to trust God even when circumstances suggest otherwise
     
    Gift of Giving – sensitive to the needs & provides
     
    Gift of Helping-ability to assist & support others In practical ways
     
    THESE ARE THE GIFTS UNDER UMBRELLA OF SERVING
     
    ALSO A Gift of serving- alert to practical needs &
    Has a desire to meet them
     
    “as each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God……..whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies…..” ~ 1 Peter 4:10-11
     
    I. Discipline Yourself To Live As A Servant
     
    “and he sat down and called the twelve. And he said to them, ‘If anyone would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all.” ~Mark 9:35
     
    “And whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” ~Mark 10:44-45

    “whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.” ~ Colossians 3:23-24

    II. Be Honest As You Evaluate Yourself
    Vs 3 “For though the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith.”
     
    III. Let Others Confirm Your Spiritual Gift
    Vs 4”for we have many members in one body and all members have not the same office. So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and everyone members one of another.”
