    2 Timothy 2:23-26

"But refuse to become involved in inane discussions; they always end up in fights. God’s bond servant must not be argumentative, but a gentle listener and a teacher who keeps cool, working firmly but patiently with those who refuse to obey. You never know how or when God might sober them up with a change of heart and a turning to the truth, enabling them to escape the devil’s trap, where they are caught and held captive, forced to run his errands.”

    1.  The Lord’s Bond-servant Is To Be Totally Obedient To God

VS 26 PAUL TALKS ABOUT BEING UNDER THE DEVIL & BEING HELD CAPTIVE BY THE DEVIL TO DO HIS WILL.

Jesus said in John 8, of the devil. “You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father.”

    2. The Lord’s Bond-servant Is To Stay Away From Foolish Talk

Look at vs 23 refuse to get involved in inane discussions

Refuse means to shun, to avoid, to reject.

Paul said to Timothy “Don’t be argumentative”

    3. The Lord’s bond-servant is to be kind and patient.

Vs 24: “Be kind to all, be a gentle listener and a one who keeps cool….”

    Argumentative – means quarrelsome, pugnacious

Do not be someone who is just looking for a fight.

    4. The Lord’s Bond-servant Is To Be A Teacher of Scripture

Vs 24 a teacher who keeps cool

Learning To Use The Power of Scripture
    Series: (All)
“Repeat these basic essentials over and over to God’s people. Warn them against pious nitpicking, which chips away at the faith. It just wears everyone out. Concentrate on doing your best for God, work you won’t be ashamed of, laying out the truth plain and simple. Stay clear of pious talk that is only talk. Words are not mere words, you know.  Of they’re not backed by a godly life, they accumulate as poison in the soul. Hymenaeus and Philetus are examples, throwing believers off stride and missing the truth by a mile by saying the resurrection is over and done with.  Meanwhile, God’s firm foundation is as firm as ever, these sentences engraved on the stones: God knows who belongs to Him. Spurn evil, all you who name God as God.” ~ 2 Timothy 2:14-19

    I. Discipline Yourself To Study The Scripture

2 Timothy 2:15 “Concentrate on doing your best for God…..lay out the truth plain and simple”

    Concentrate-means to be diligent

The Miracle of Rolling Stones John 11: 28-44
“The Teacher is here and asking for you Mary. Mary jumped up and ran out to him……..when Jesus saw Her sobbing and the Jews with her sobbing, a deep anger welled up within him. Jesus said, Where did You put Lazarus? Master, come and see. Now Jesus wept……then Jesus, with anger again welling up within him, arrived at the tomb. It was a simple cave in the hillside with a slab of stone laid against it. Jesus said, remove the stone.
Martha the sister of Lazrus said, Master, by this time there is a stench, He’s been dead for four days……Jesus turned to the others, Go ahead, take away the stone. They removed the stone. Jesus raised his eyes to heaven and prayed, Father, I’m grateful you have listened to me. I know you always do listen, but on account of this crowd standing here I’ve spoken so that they might believe you sent me. Then he shouted, Lazarus, come out! And he came out, a cadaver wrapped from head to toe, with a kerchief over his face. Jesus told them, unwrap him and let him loose.” ~John 11: 28-44 (The Message)

    I. We All Are Dead Without Jesus

Wept- this Greek verb is a rare word found this one time in the NT. Contrasting to the loud wailing others were Doing. WHAT JESUS IS DOING IS SILENTLY CRYING

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, and if you believe in Him, you will not perish, but will have everlasting life.” ~ John 3:16 (NASV)
