How Could A Good God Allow So Much Suffering?
John 16:33

I. God Tells Us There Will Be Suffering
'
'These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation.'' ~ John 16:33

The famous atheist, Richard Dawkins, said this: ''The universe we observe has no design, no purpose, no
evil, and no good - nothing but blind, pitiless indifference. DNA neither knows nor cares; DNA just is, and we dance to its music.''

''Well, if God were really God, then He would do away with evil.''
God is going to do away with evil.
Just because He hasn't done away with evil yet, and evil brings pain and suffering, obviously; so, just because He hasn't done it yet, doesn't mean He's not going to do it.
You know, when Job had the big problem with God because of all the suffering that came on him,
he began to ask questions of God.
He never sinned with his mouth.
He didn't ascribe unseemliness to God.
He didn't curse God as the devil said he would do. The devil said, ''God, You do this to him, he'll curse You to Your face.''
Well, Job never did that.
He came to God with all these questions, and the LORD didn't answer him for many, many chapters.
Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind and said, 'Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge? Now gird up your loins like a man, and I will ask you, and you will instruct Me!
Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding.
Who set its measurements?
Or who laid its cornerstone when the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
Where were you, Mr. Job, thinking you are entitled
to so many things?''

II. God Has A Plan For Our Lives

HE GIVETH MORE GRACE
''He giveth more grace as our burdens grow greater,
He sendeth more strength as our labors increase;
To added afflictions He addeth His mercy,
To multiplied trials His multiplied peace.
When we have exhausted our store of endurance,
When our strength has failed, 'ere the day is half done.
When we reach the end of our hoarded resources,
Our Father's full giving is only begun.
His love has no limits, His grace has no measure,
His power has no boundary known unto men.
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus,
He giveth and giveth and giveth again.''

Physicist Lawrence Krauss - Arizona State University. ''We're just a bit of pollution. If you got rid of us, the universe would be largely the same. We're completely irrelevant.''

Genesis 1:1 ''In the beginning God (the eternal God, the one who is before the beginning, the one is before anything because He's eternal. The eternal God, Elohim) created the heavens and the earth.''

    I. God Created Everything With Purpose

Proverbs 16: 4, ''The LORD has made everything for its own purpose, even the wicked for the day of evil.''

Genesis 1: 26, “let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth. And God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female, He created them.''

    Does God Really Exist?
    Genesis 1:1
Series: The Big Questions of Life #1

“First this: God created the heavens and the earth all you see, all you don’t see. Earth was a soup of nothingness, a bottomless emptiness, an inky blackness.” ~ Genesis 1:1 (The Message)

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” ~ Genesis 1:1 (NASV)

    I. The Bible Presents God

The scriptures never try to prove the existence of God rather Scripture simply presents God. Scripture does not argue for God’s existence. Scripture does not try to explain the existence of God. WHY?

Psalm 90: 2 ''Before the mountains were born, or You gave birth to the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting You are God.'' (NASV)

MOSES IS THE ONE GOD CALLED TO WRITE GENESIS – EXODUS – LEVITICUS - NUMBERS - DEUTERONOMY

Moses said, ''In the beginning God...''

II. The Bible Gives Evidence For The Existence of God

Romans 1:18 - 20 ''For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness.'' (NASV)

They hold back the truth in unrighteousness. Why?

''Because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.'' (NASV)

Evident- ''...that which is known about God is evident within them; because God made it evident to them.'' means apparent, manifest, known, obvious. Plainly recognized.

Psalm 19: 1-4 ''The heavens are telling of the glory of God, and their expanse is declaring the work of His hands. Day to day pours forth speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. There is no speech, nor are there words; their voice is not heard. Their line has gone out through all the earth and their utterances to the end of the world.'' (NASV)

III. The Bible Presents Jesus As The Son of God

John 1: 1-4 ''In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being by Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.

Vs 14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.'' (NASV)

    Do Not Be Afraid
    Matthew 10:26-31

“Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather be afraid of the One who can destroy both body and soul in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for one penny? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground from your father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows.” ~ Matthew 10: 28-31 (NASV)

    I. Do Not Fear Death

The Miracle of Rolling Stones John 11: 28-44
“The Teacher is here and asking for you Mary. Mary jumped up and ran out to him……..when Jesus saw Her sobbing and the Jews with her sobbing, a deep anger welled up within him. Jesus said, Where did You put Lazarus? Master, come and see. Now Jesus wept……then Jesus, with anger again welling up within him, arrived at the tomb. It was a simple cave in the hillside with a slab of stone laid against it. Jesus said, remove the stone.
Martha the sister of Lazrus said, Master, by this time there is a stench, He’s been dead for four days……Jesus turned to the others, Go ahead, take away the stone. They removed the stone. Jesus raised his eyes to heaven and prayed, Father, I’m grateful you have listened to me. I know you always do listen, but on account of this crowd standing here I’ve spoken so that they might believe you sent me. Then he shouted, Lazarus, come out! And he came out, a cadaver wrapped from head to toe, with a kerchief over his face. Jesus told them, unwrap him and let him loose.” ~John 11: 28-44 (The Message)

    I. We All Are Dead Without Jesus

Wept- this Greek verb is a rare word found this one time in the NT. Contrasting to the loud wailing others were Doing. WHAT JESUS IS DOING IS SILENTLY CRYING

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, and if you believe in Him, you will not perish, but will have everlasting life.” ~ John 3:16 (NASV)
