“There was once a man named Job who lived in the land of Uz. He was blameless – a man of complete integrity. He feared God and stayed away from evil. He had seven sons and three daughters. He owned 7,000 sheep, 3,000 camels, 500 teams of oxen, and 500 female donkeys. He also had many servants. He was, in fact, the richest person in the entire area.” ~ Job 1:1-3

    Does Our Worship Please God?
    Series: Worship 101
    Matthew 15:7-8

"You shall worship the LORD your God and Him only shall you serve."

Matthew 15 "Then some Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem, saying, why your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread? And He answered and said to them, and why do you yourselves transgress the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition? For God said HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER, and HE WHO SPEAKS EVIL OF FATHER OR MOTHER IS TO BE PUT TO DEATH. But you say, whoever shall say to his father or mother, anything of mine you might have been helped by has been given to God, he is not to honor his father or his mother. And thus, you invalidated the Word of God for the sake of your tradition." Now here it comes: "You hypocrites, rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying, this people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far away from me. But in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the precepts of men."

    "You guys worship in vain."

    I. Worship That Pleases God Comes From Our Heart

Some times church services are simply what we do on Sunday.

Have you ever asked yourself the question
    DOES MY WORSHIP PLEASE GOD?
DOES MY WORSHIP COME FROM MY HEART?

"This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far away from me," But in vain do they worship me."

"Any time you do that and you just go through the motions, and you just give Me lip service, but your heart is far away, that's vain worship

II. Worship That Is Pleasing To God Is Full of Life

Luke 15 where we find the story of the prodigal son, Jesus said, "There is more joy in heaven over 1 sinner who repents than 99 righteous people who need no repentance."

“you are correct, we do not and let Me tell you what you do. You elevate the traditions of men above the Word of God. That's what you do."

Do you ever do that - set aside the commandment of God to hold on to your tradition?

FATHER IS SEEKING TRUE WORSHIPPERS WHO WILL WORSHIP HIM IN SPIRIT & TRUTH.
God created us to worship Him We are told in Deuteronomy 6: “YOU SHALL WORSHIP GOD”

Jesus said, “Your worship is in vain. Your worship does not count. You are not worshipping me at all.”

    I. Worship Is Our Expression Of Celebration To God

II. Church Worship Is Often Criticized

III. Scripture Teaches Us How To Worship God

“ Come, let’s shout praises to God, raise the roof for the Rock who saved us! Let’s march into His presence singing praises, lifting the rafters with our hymns! And why? Because God is the best, High King over all the gods. In one hand he holds deep caves and caverns, in the other hand grasps high mountains. He made ocean – he owns it! His hands sculpted earth! So come, let us worship: bow before Him on your knees before God, who made us! Oh yes, he is our God, and we are the people of His pastures, the flock He feeds.” ~ Psalm 95: 1-7 (The Message)

God Gave The First Gift Of Love
    Galatians 4:4-5

To: All people who live in the Southern part of USA
    From: Santa
    Re: The Replacement Santa

“I regret to inform you that effective immediately America is growing so rapidly I am no longer able to
Cover the South on Christmas Eve. However, I have asked my 3rd cousin Bubba Clause to be my replacement.
I call your attention to a few differences:

    1. Rather than milk & cookies, Bubba Claus prefers you leave a RC Cola & pork rinds
    2. Bubba Claus has switched his sled from being pulled by reindeer to flying coon dogs.
    3. The names of the flying coon dogs are not Comet – Cupid – Donner – Blitzen – etc. The names will now be
    Hamlin – Bush – Hardwick – Johnson – etc
    4. Bubba has requested the classic movies Miracle on 34th Street – It’s a Wonderful Life be replaced BOSS HOGG SAVES CHRISTMAS SMOKEY & THE BANDIT IV
    5. Bubba Claus does not wear a belt, so make certain when he bends over to put the Christmas gift under the tree, the children are not in the room.

“But when the time arrived that was set by God the Father, God sent His Son, born among us of a woman, born under the conditions of the law so that He might redeem those of us who have been kidnapped by the law. Thus we have been set free to experience our rightful heritage.” ~ Galatians 4: 4-5 (The Message)

    I. God Is Never Late With His Gift

“There is an opportune time to do things, a right time for everything on this earth: A time for birth and a time for death. A right time to plant and another to reap” and continues talking about time.

“God made everything beautiful in itself and in its time”

II. God Gave His Son Not One Second Late Or One Second Early

III. God Will Not Be Late Sending His Son Again

“ But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, only the Father.” ~ Matthew 24:36 (NIV)

Where God Meets Your Deepest Need For Joy
    Matthew 2

“Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy, for unto you this day in the city of David there has been born a Savior who is Christ the Lord.” ~ Luke 2

    I. This News Was Disturbing To Some

“After Jesus was born in the village of Bethlehem, this was during Herod’s kingship – a band of select scholars arrived in Jerusalem from the East. They asked around, Where can we find and pay respect to the newborn King of the Jews?
Herod thought he was King of the Jews. He was a psycho king, he was a paranoid Floyd. Herod killed anyone he thought was trying to replace him as king. Herod killed 3 of his own sons. Herod had 10 wives and he killed his favorite wife because he thought she and 3 of his sons were dangerous & accused them of being in collaboration.” ~ Matthew 2:1-2 (The Message)

VS 3 “When word of their inquiry reached Herod, he was terrified – and not Herod alone, but most of Jerusalem as well.”

“The fool has said in his heart, there is no God.” ~Psalm 14:1, Psalm 53:1 (NASV)

II. Some Were Indifferent To The News

Vs 4 “Herod lost no time. He gathered all the high priests and religion scholars in the city together and asked, ‘Where is the Messiah supposed to be born?’”

Vs 5” They told him, ‘Bethlehem, Judah territory. Micah 5:2 it is written plainly”

III. The News Caused Great Joy To Others

Vs 9 “Instructed by the king, they set off. Then the star appeared again, the same star they had seen in the eastern skies. It led them on until it hovered over the place of the child. They could hardly contain themselves: They were in the right place! They had arrived at the right time!”

Vs 11 “They entered the house and saw the child in the arms of Mary, his mother. Overcome, they kneeled and worshiped him. They opened their luggage, and presented gifts: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.”

"I believe a very large majority of churchgoers are merely unthinking, slumbering worshipers of an unknown God." ~Charles H. Spurgeon

Where God Meets Your Deepest Needs For Peace
    Luke 2:1-7, Luke 2:14

''Now it came about in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that a census should be taken of all the inhabited earth. This was the first census taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria. And all were proceeding to register for the census, everyone to his own city. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, in order to register, along with Mary, who was engaged to him, and was with child. And it came about that while they were there the days were completed for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son, and she wrapped him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger because there was no room for them in the inn.''

    I. Peace Comes From God Who Prophesied In the 8th century Bethlehem Would Be The Birthplace

''Bethlehem you are one of the smallest towns in the nation of Judah. But the LORD will choose one of your people to rule the nations, someone whose family goes back to ancient times.'' ~Micah 5:2

''Where is He who is born King of the Jews? We saw His star in the east, and we have come to worship Him.''

God orchestrates the events of life to accomplish His will.

Chp 2:1 (KJV ) “Now it came to pass”

    Bethlehem means ''house of bread.''

Jesus was born in a common place for the common man. So everyone can relate to Him

II. Jesus Wanted You To Have Peace From Bethlehem The House of Bread

''Listen. You don't need more bread for your stomach. You need the bread of God that will bring life to you, life to your spirit, life to your soul, a living bread.'' they said, ''Yeah, sign us up. Every more, LORD, give us this bread.''
Jesus says these words in John 6:35 ''I am the Bread of life; he who comes to Me shall not hunger, he who believes in Me shall never thirst.''

Ephesians 2:1 ''And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, dead in your trespasses and sins....''

Now there are two types of life.

First type of life: eternal life.

Second type of life is abundant life

You will never have abundant life until you have eternal life!

Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah to say, May the gods deal with me, be it ever so severely, if by this time tomorrow I do not make your life like one of them. Elijah was afraid and ran for his life. When he came to Beersheba in Judah, he left his servant there, while he himself went a day’s journey into the desert. He came to a broom tree, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. I have had enough, Lord, he said. Take my life’ I am no better than my ancestors. Listen to my prayer, O God, do not ignore my plea; hear me and answer me. My thoughts trouble me and I am distraught at the voice of the enemy, at the stares of the wicked; for they bring down suffering upon me and revile me in their anger. My heart is in anguish within me; the terrors of death assail me. Fear and trembling have paralyzed me; horror has overwhelmed me. I said, Oh, that I have the wings of a dove! I would fly away and be at rest – I would flee far away and stay in the desert; I would hurry to my place of shelter, far from the turmoil and storms.” Psalm 55: 1- 8
